Describe a range of communication methods and styles to meet individuals needs.

Non verbal communication: is a form of communication that takes place almost subconsciously, that is without being aware of thinking, it provides clues about the meaning spoken language,without using words, subconsciously means happening at a level without thought or full awareness,

Verbal communication: is about the choice of words being spoken, but also the way the words are said, most communication takes place while undertaking other activities,

Touch: for an individual who are blind but not deaf is Braille,

Eye to eye contact: very important and sometimes it is difficult to know if a person is telling the truth unless you can look into their eyes, holding someone's gaze is a sign of intimacy but to do so with a person you don't know welk can feel uncomfortable, even threatening, during most conversations it is normal for your gaze to flit to and from another's face, when working with those who have communication difficulties it can help to exaggerate

elements of non - verbal communication to provide more clues about your spoken language.

Body language: communication expressed through gestures, poses and posture.Body language relates to the way your body reflects to the way your thoughts and feelings, this can add emphasis to your words, but if you don't really mean what you are saying it can also reveal a truer and contradictory message beneath your words.

Gestures: are signs made with the hands and arms to illustrate or emphasise your words or to stand in place of words, people often gesticulate during conversations without really thinking about it.

Vocabulary: choosing words that are appropriate to the service users level of understanding, perhaps english is not their first language or they have communication difficulties associated with a physical condition, at the same time you need to be aware of not being too simplistic and coming across as patronising.

Tone of voice: facial expression, posture, tone of voice concerns the emotional message being conveyed alongside the spoken words, when these don't match, people can become aware of your emotions and will pick up whether you are irritated or anxious.

Reflect: make a point of listening to yourself and others when speaking, notice the tone and pitch of voice and how this contributes to the message being comnunicated.
